The Photographer

My husband is gone. No note, no explanation—just vanished. And he left our four-year-old daughter, Fay, alone in the house.

He also left behind a mountain of bills I have absolutely no way of paying off.

So when my old sorority sister and Instagram celebrity Marissa Jones turns up offering me a job as her personal photographer, I can hardly refuse. I have to provide for my little girl.

Even if it means going back to Milwaukee—the place I swore years ago that I would never to go back to. The city that still haunts my nightmares.

At least Marissa’s brother, Teddy, is there. Back in college, he was always my protector, my safe space. And maybe, just maybe, he can be a whole lot more than that.
